Ted, Marshall, Lily, Barney and Robin are five friends who like to hang out at McLaren's, an Irish pub in New York City.
The entire TV show is based on the story of how Ted meets the mother of his children.
- Ted Mosby : he is an architect looking for love, he is also kind of sarcastic all the time.
- Marshall and Lily : they are together for nine years, since the first year of college. Marshall is a law student who aspires to become an environmental lawyer and Lily is a kindergarten teacher who wants to become an artist.
- Barney : he is the guy in a suit, like all the time. He even wears a suit pyjama when he sleeps. He is the Don Juan of the team. And he is awesome.
- Robin : she is kind of the feminine equivalent of Barney, in some way. She is a TV reporter and a former Canadian pop star.
I really enjoy this sitcom for two main reasons : the characters are hilarious and interesting, and it is a sitcom, so basically, if you don't watch the episodes one after the other, you will still understand what is happening. Also, like Friends, it deals with important topics and issues, like unemployment for example, and it reaches the goal to have sort of a positive point of view about everything.
